I met a guy at work a few years ago, we quickly became very close. We had a ton in common and just clicked. My favourite parts about him was that he listened to me, he was open minded, calm, balanced, seemed to appreciate women's sports and female role models. So it seemed weird to me that he would occasionally "like" stuff online that seemed more right leaning, from the 'masculinity is under attack' Jordan Peterson type crowd. Seemed inconsistent with the rest of his opinions.
I didn't see this show up in his normal everyday behaviour, so we started a relationship.
Then one day he got very upset with me for supporting pride and having hobbies/interests that I guess weren't feminine enough for him (Star wars, comic books, ice hockey). He went from being someone who was very reciprocal in our relationship, to one where he said weirdly domineering things like, "I'm going to tell you things your family and friends should have told you"
I really miss the person he was.
